Boards and Commissions
Howey residents are encouraged to apply for positions on one or more of the Town's several volunteer boards. Advisory board members are appointed from a pool of applicants that generally serve a two-year term.
Each advisory board serves an important role in the town's government by carrying out the various duties and responsibilities of each board which include the following:
- communication links between the town's government and the general public;
- attention toward specific issues and problems concerning their board;
- recommending Council action and/or alternatives for Council's consideration;
- balance the programs of their boards with the resources available to them through the annual budget;
- carry out their duties and responsibilities in strict compliance with the State of Florida's Government in the Sunshine provisions and the Code of Ethics.
