Storm Debris Pickup - Hurricane Milton

Storm Debris Pickup Notice - Begins in Town on Saturday November 9, 2024

The Town have received confirmation from Lake County that storm debris pickup for Howey-in-the-Hills starts this Saturday, Nov. 9., with three trucks working in the Howey zone.

Lake County is managing the pickup throughout the County, including for Howey. They are asking to have the vegetative debris and construction debris separated from each other, with vegetative debris being picked up first. These two types of debris should also be distanced from trash/recycling cans, so that trucks are able to access whichever type of waste they are picking up. Vegetative storm debris will *not* be pick up if it is in plastic bags; it should be in loose piles, in biodegradable bags, or in lift-able, rigid containers (such as a non-GFL trash can). Large storm debris (big branches, stumps) should be placed in a loose pile separately from smaller yard waste.
